Green Mary 8"x10"
The background of GREEN MARY: Katharine Hartwig Dahl was a successful, prolific artist when she sustained a traumatic brain injury with grave doubts that she would ever make art again. In 2002 Katharine began speaking with Mother Mary, through Danielle, who urged her to “paint, paint, paint – it’s what you are here to do.”
In 2005 Mary requested that Katherine do a portrait of Her blindfolded. This seemed an impossible and preposterous task for an abstract painter faced with the old master’s precedent and no eyes to see. Finally, when Dahl’s friend “Mary” gave her a canvas, prepared by her late husband “Luke,” she realized she had to try it. Cans of paint and brushes were lined up, and with her eyes closed, Katharine extended her hand over them until, one by one, unknown colors were chosen and implements for application selected. Without looking, the paints were applied as though another entity had borrowed her body to do the work.
Mother Mary has asked that the image now be made available in many different forms. She stated that She has infused it with Her energy which will assist all who view it “in moving through those things in life that seem impossible to move through, in creating those things in life that seem impossible to create and finding peace with those things in life that seem impossible to be at peace with.” This painting says “Yes, you can. Just start.”
It was recommended that the image be in a place of importance where you will come in contact with it often and accept the support that you need. GREEN MARY is not a religious piece for the few, but an invitation to all, to explore life as a conscious co-creation with the Divine.
